Watch our latest exterior transformation in Knighton using K-Rend TC15 Antique White. A story of blown render, dodging rain showers, and why we never miss a deadline.
I believe in letting the craftsmanship speak for itself.
This timelapse shows exactly how we go from a tired, blown exterior to a crisp, modern finish.
Every renovation has its challenges, but this project in Knighton threw a curveball before we even arrived on site.
A few days before the start date, the engine in my work van completely gave up. In the trade, this is usually the moment where you make the dreaded phone call to the client to say, "Sorry, we have to delay."
At Abode Plastering, we don't work like that. The client had a deadline, and we intended to keep it.
So, this entire job—stripping off the old blown sand and cement and installing a modern silicone system—was engaged using the family car. It wasn't ideal ferrying bags of render back and forth, but it meant the project started on time and finished on time.
You might notice something if you watch the timelapse closely: we jump straight to the topcoat application.
This job was carried out at the tail end of summer, right when the weather turned showery. The most critical part of the process—the Full Structural Meshing—had to be done during tight dry spells between the rain.
We didn't have time to set up the camera; we had to get the mesh embedded and the basecoat flat before the next shower hit.
Why did we rush the camera, but not the work? Because the mesh is the "insurance policy" for your walls. By embedding fibreglass mesh into the basecoat, we ensure that even if the underlying brickwork moves, the new render won't crack. We prioritised the engineering over the filming!

The original walls were covered in old sand and cement that had failed and "blown" (detached from the brick). We replaced this tired exterior with K-Rend TC15 in Antique White.
Unlike the old cement, which is brittle and cracks under thermal stress, this silicone finish is:
Flexible: It moves with the house during the freezing Knighton winters.
Hydrophobic: It repels water, effectively self-cleaning when it rains.
Maintenance-Free: The Antique White colour is integrated into the mix, so the client won't need to paint this wall again.
The result is a property that looks brand new, delivered on schedule—regardless of engine trouble or rain.
