Baumit Approved External Wall Insulation in Ludlow. We follow a bespoke manufacturer specification for every property to secure your 10-year system warranty.
External Wall Insulation (EWI) is not a cosmetic update; it is a significant structural alteration to your property. That is why we do not guess. As a Baumit Approved Applicator, I work directly with the manufacturer’s technical team to design a specific system for your home.
Whether your property requires breathable Mineral Wool to support heritage brickwork or High-Performance EPS for modern efficiency, we only install the exact specification provided by Baumit. This disciplined approach ensures that every layer—from the adhesive base coat to the final Silicone Rendering—is chemically compatible and tested to perform.
A warranty is only worth the paper it is written on. Many local builders offer "personal guarantees," but if they retire or cease trading, that protection disappears.
At Abode, we offer something far more secure. Because I am a Baumit Approved Applicator, my work is audited and approved by the manufacturer. By installing the system exactly to their technical specification, I secure the official Baumit System Warranty for your property.
This means your investment is backed by one of Europe’s leading building material manufacturers, not just a local tradesman’s promise. It is the ultimate safety net for your home.
A common misconception is that only Victorian solid walls need insulation. The reality is that many cavity wall homes built between 1950 and 1990 are also thermally inefficient.
Whether your home is solid brick or an older cavity build, standard masonry is a poor insulator. It acts as a "thermal bridge," actively sucking heat from your radiators and transferring it straight to the street. Relying on old, slumped cavity fill is often not enough to stop this heat loss.
The "Tea Cosy" Effect EWI works by wrapping the entire exterior—regardless of wall type—in a continuous thermal blanket. This does two things:
Stops Heat Loss: It upgrades your walls to modern building regulation standards (U-Values), locking warmth inside.
Banishes Condensation: By warming the physical bricks and blocks of your wall, we move the "Dew Point" outside. This eliminates the cold internal surfaces that cause black mould and damp spots behind your furniture.
External Insulation is the only home improvement that pays you back in two ways: lower running costs and an immediate increase in property value.
We don't just stick grey boards to the wall; we finish them with our premium Silicone Rendering. This transforms a tired, dated, or mismatched exterior into a pristine, modern property. You get the thermal performance of a new-build home without the hassle of moving.
No Internal Disruption: Unlike internal insulation, we don't rip off your skirting boards or reduce your floor space.
Structural Protection: The weather never touches your bricks again. The system takes the hit, extending the life of your masonry.
The biggest risk with EWI is water ingress caused by poor detailing. Adding insulation increases the wall thickness by 50mm to 100mm, which can bury your existing window sills and roof overhangs.
We do not "make do." We install purpose-made aluminium oversills that extend correctly beyond the new render line.
Crucially, we also inspect your roof overhang. If your current eaves are too short to cover the new insulation depth (as per NHBC Standards), we will require these to be extended by a roofing contractor before we install the system. We refuse to install EWI that relies on messy silicone seals instead of proper structural overhangs. If the water cannot run off freely, we will not take the job. It is that simple.
If you are considering EWI, the first step is not a guess at a price, but a proper assessment of your wall type.
